Quit allowing fear to be the main character in your life.

Meet Brittaney Latta, LMFT, a down-to-earth virtual online trauma therapist in San Diego and across California.

What do the LGBTQ+ community, minorities, and trauma survivors all have in common?

You all grew up in a world where you had to hide parts of yourself in order to feel safe.

Hi, I am Brittaney Latta. I'm a down-to-earth therapist who makes you feel like you are talking to a friend who REALLY GETS YOU. In my sessions, you won't find any of that uptight "how does that make you feel" energy.

I help teens, young adults, and adults stop worrying about what others think of them and start focusing on learning to care for their own emotions, create peace, communicate effectively, and find the courage to live authentically.

What to expect from therapy with me.

I have designed a structure for therapy sessions that feels like a gentle nudge toward achieving your therapy goals.

1. Psychoeducation: Here, you will learn about the psychology and neuroscience behind your feelings. We can more easily change once we have better awareness and understanding of ourselves.

2. Coping tools: Use mindfulness techniques to help you better manage your emotions. The goal is to help you move from feelings of anxiety and being overwhelmed to feelings of joy and balance.

3. Thought work: Learn tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to assist you in replacing unhelpful thoughts with more helpful ones. Your thoughts impact your feelings, which in turn affect your actions. Changing our thought patterns can help us improve our confidence to create a more fulfilling life.

4. Inner child work: Explore how childhood experiences still impact you as an adult. When we change these patterns, we can move from a place of reactivity to making more empowered choices.

5. Boundaries and communication skills: Learn ways to improve how you treat yourself and others. Here, we aim to create deeper, more fulfilling relationships while creating greater control and peace in your life.

I am big into feedback- so if this style doesn’t work for you, let’s chat and create a therapy plan that works better!

Finding the right therapist is like finding the right car- it must be safe, comfortable, and fit your style!

When you come from a unique walk of life, it's important to find a therapist who understands you and doesn't cause you more trauma.

Is it my psychology education, extensive work background with severe trauma, or unique lived experience that helps me get you? Probably all of the above!

I've gone through my own healing journey (and still continue). I've survived child abuse, domestic violence, and sexual assaults. I've gone through my own journey of coming out as a bisexual polyamorous person who is now living my life authentically despite what others may say. I've changed many unhealthy ways of coping to come to a place of peace and empowerment.

Clients tend to feel safe opening up with me because I am honest and affirming, and I've sat where you sit. I've had to overcome my demons and struggles to get to the other side, from just surviving to thriving!
